Self Send Text Messaging

Want to send personalized messages via text to your contacts using your own phone number? The Self Send Texting feature lets you send text messages to contacts in any tag or audience—while keeping the power of Happy Grasshopper’s templates and tracking behind the scenes.

🚦How It Works

Instead of sending texts automatically from our platform, Self Send allows you to:

Schedule a text message to be sent through your phone
Send to a tag or audience you select
Get a reminder and tap to send the messages from your native messaging app

This ensures messages are delivered personally, which increases trust, deliverability, and engagement.

🔧 Getting Started

Log in to your Happy Grasshopper account
Navigate to Text Messaging in the left-hand menu
Click the Self Send tab
Then hit Create New Message

📝 Compose Your Message

Name your message (for internal tracking only)
Your phone number is auto-filled from your account settings
🛠 If it’s incorrect, update it in Notifications under your profile settings

Then:

Choose one or more tags or audiences to send to
Write your message from scratch, or paste in one of our ready-to-go text templates from the library
Use merge codes to auto-fill personal details:
- {{u.first}} = your first name
- {{c.first}} = the contact’s first name

Make your message sound like you—friendly, conversational, and clear.

📆 Schedule & Send

Once your message is ready:

Choose a send date and time
This determines when you’ll get a reminder text with a link to send the messages manually

You’ll receive:

A text notification with a link
Click it to open a mobile browser page
Tap Send for each recipient—the message opens in your phone’s texting app, ready to go
Send one-by-one to each contact in your list
